Manchester City will look to remain in touch with league leaders Arsenal when they travel to St Mary’s Stadium to play Southampton on Saturday.

The Saints will enter the upcoming home clash on the back of a disappointing 1-0 defeat to West Ham United

Nayef Aguerd broke the deadlock with a brilliant header in the first-half as the Hammers held out to secure a crucial victory.

Southampton have already sacked two managers in Ralph Hasenhuttl and Nathan Jones so far this season, with the English side installing Ruben Selles in the hot seat as their latest managerial appointment.

But things are not looking positive under Selles as well, with the Spanish boss managing to win only one of his six top-flight matches in charge of the club.

The Saints have collected only 23 points from their 29 matches so far and are the most likely candidate to get relegated to the Championship.

On the other hand, Manchester City are on a seven-game winning run in all competitions. But they are still eight points behind Arsenal, having played a game less than their rivals.

Pep Guardiola’s side were expected to find tough competition against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium last week. But that largely proved to be a one-sided affair for the hosts as they put four past their Merseyside rivals to claim a comfortable victory.

City were without their star striker Erling Haaland but they didn’t seem to miss the Norwegian very much.

Julian Alvarez scored the equaliser after Mohamed Salah provided an early breakthrough for the visitors. Kevin de Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan extended the scoreline after the break before Jack Grealish wrapped up a superb win with a 74th-minute strike.

Team News

Southampton boss Ruben Selles will have to contend with several injury issues this week as Che Adams, Mohammed Salisu, Valentino Livramento and Juan Larios will all be missing Saturday’s league clash at St Mary’s.

While the availability of Armel Bella-Kotchap is doubtful after he sustained a shoulder injury against Tottenham.

As for the Citizens, Haaland will be in contention this weekend after recovering from a groin injury that saw him miss international duty.

Phil Foden will sit out the game as he recovers from appendix surgery in latest Man City news

Southampton vs Manchester City prediction

Manchester City are currently enjoying a spectacular run of form. They destroyed RB Leipzig 7-0 in the Champions League before thrashing Burnley 6-0 in the English top-flight. The Citizens also eased past Liverpool in their most recent league encounter.

Southampton will have home advantage on Saturday but anything less than a victory for City will be a huge upset. We are backing Pep Guardiola’s men for a comfortable win.

Southampton 0-3 Manchester City
